Talking with Teddy (The owner) the other day he wanted to extend us an offer on some extended warranties.

If your vehicle is still under warranty you can purchase one of these. It doesn't matter where you purchase the warranty it can be used anywhere in the country.

Both these offers are the Gold Warranty, meaning can be used anywhere in the country and there is a $0 deductible for repairs.

A 6yr 100,000 mile warranty he is willing to sell us for $1346 + tax.
The Nissan guide tells Teddy to sell this for $2865.

A 5yr 75,000 mile warranty he is willing to sell us for $902 + tax.
The Nissan guide tells Teddy to sell this for $1755

I know once I get some money built up, I'll be buying the 6yr one - that's a good deal.

Dave, until you void the warranty by miles or by year, what ever comes first. The vehicle still needs to be covered under the warranty in order to buy an extended one.

Not bad. I have always stopped going to my local dealer after the warranty runs out. My local shop charges $50 an hour compared to $105 at the dealer.

Plus all my local dealers have given me grief because I have a lift and a bumper. You are lucky the dealership up there is that cool.

I bought the extended warranty for mine when I bought my X,then I was told by the dealer that because the vehicle had been modified from "factory specifications" that my warranty is now VOID! that and anything I have breaks after the warranty runs out.

That is incorrect, they legally can not void an entire warranty. There is actually a law protecting the consumers from that sort of thing.

If you modify a certain part, they can void that. But adding a car alarm can't void the warranty on your windows working. Make sense?

But since you purchased something above and beyond the given factory warranty, do the same rules apply? I need to find my paper work for my xtended warranty...

Not sure what you mean...give me an example.

IE if you lift your truck they can void the entire thing because the extended warranty is above and beyond the factory warranty.

Well when you buy a car or truck it comes with the factory warranty... that is the one that the laws try to protect because if you lose it you are pretty much screwed if something breaks and you don't have a choice in getting it or not.

Now when you purchase an extended warranty it is in essence a secondary purchase, like insurance. So I would figure they could make up any rules that they want because you have a choice in buying it or not, whereas the factory warranty is a given.

It doesn't matter. It's their burden of proof to prove what you did to mod the truck caused the problem.

BoardPhreak had a big problem with his extended warranty when his cluch went, but he battled it and had it fixed under warranty.
