"As long as we have it apart...."

So, my after just shy of 200K Miles, my synchronizers were starting to go, So transmission rebuild and, as long as we have it apart, new clutch and rear main seal.

I cannot say enough good things about https://highgeartransmission.com/

Great people to work with, took the time to ask me what kind of driving I did, If want to change any gearing specific to snow/ice/off-roading/5th gear for highway fuel efficiency, etc. Basically anything I wanted they would do for the same $1050, nd it's got a 24 months or 24,000 mile warranty.

They even called me yesterday to tell me it was finishing up on the bench and would be going on the dyno, and invited me down to check it out myself, make sure I liked the dyno numbers and the shifting felt good to me.

I realize most everybody here is from the North East, and shipping gets costly, but
they have plenty of our transmissions rebuilt to "better than stock" tolerances (and standard gearing) but if you need a quality custom rebuild, you can ship them your transmission, and they will do whatever you want.

All the local street drivers at Memphis International Raceway use them, as do the red-necks that go wheeling down in the bottoms. On the dyno, it shifted like silk, but felt positive and solid at the same time, kinda hard to explain.... Very anxious to get it out into the Wolf River Bottoms and see what it feels like in the X.

Just waiting on the rest of the work to be done;
Heater Core found leaking while removing transmission
Timing Belt & Water Pump, 20k early but good insurance, IMO
Valve Cover Gaskets, and Spark Plugs.

This part is gonna really hurt the bank account but a previously pampered, driveway-queen, rust free, Gen. 1, (originally from Hawaii), is totally worth it, IMO.

Indeed!

Due to an ice/sleet storm last night here in Memphis, TN I responded to two seperate friends' calls for help in pulling them out of ditches... Snatched them straight out, didn't even need low-range. Smooth as silk, barely noticed any extra strain, especially the Camry. Probably time to invest a new tow-strap though...
