Post subject:  Garvin Interior Rack Installed!!!

Decided to take the plunge and get the Garvin Interior Rack.
Thanks to Kyle and Bob at Garvin for the help with all of my questions. Also a big thanks for rushing the order so I could have the rack by Gone Moab.

One reason for me ordering the Garvin rack was the fact that I loose way too much visibility out the rear do to the Lobo and my 35 spare.

Other reasons
Gear falling out of Lobo while wheeling
Needing to fuss with the clips in order to get items out of the Lobo
Annoying rattling do to Lobo mounts
Loss of rear interior lighting
Not a lot of storage space
Etc...

On to the rack!!!
Shipped via UPS and the rack was packaged Very well.

Craftsmanship is Spot on and a nice powder coat finish.

Mounting of the Garvin is pretty straight forward. I like that they used lag bolts that fit perfectly into the racks mounting slots so you only need to use one hand to tighten down the bolts.

Besides using the Xs cargo utility track for mounting points
Image

you also use the cargo cover attachment points for support.

Here is the front support mounted up

The rear mount is attached in the utility track as well ( sorry no pics of it by itself ).

Here is the Garvin installed in the X

And here it is loaded up with my gear

No pics right now of the extra view as it's too dark out to get the pic. I did gain about 3+" of rear view with the Lobo gone.

Now onto an item that I am going to add and an items I am Bummed about.

Garvin uses cross bars for the bottom of the basket that you can see in this pic.
Image
The down side to this for me is that I have some small items that will fall in between the bars.
I will be adding a wire mesh or solid bottom to it so I don't have to worry about this.

Bummed about
My Power Tank does not fit with the Garvin installed. It's just way too tight for me to get the tank in. I tried everything from taking the boot off to the handle. it's just too big to squeeze between the rack and the interior.

I'll figure it out but this was a bummer. Of course I am one of the few that has a Power Tank mounted back here so it's only a problem for a limited number of guys.

Other than those 2 things it's a Great rack and glad I picked it up.

Moab Loaded pics and review during my travels to come.

Nice, Dave. My big concern for it was the PowerTank. Unfortunately, mine's mounted in the same spot yours is. Are you going to mount it to the rack?

Also, what's the height under the rack?

i could definitely use something like that....once all the tool boxes and the sub box are in, i have virtually no cargo space :(

I have to measure it but from what Bob and Kyle told me it was 17" from floor the bottom of rack.
The guys said they could fit a ARB or Engel fridge under it.

I'll have measurements Sunday night when I get back to the X.

I haven't a clue as to the Power Tank issue. Totally bummed it doesn't fit. I would need just an extra 2" in that corner for the tank to slide down. I may cut the corner down and weld it back together.
I'lll figure it out and post up the deal.

Looks killer!! Unfortunately the First Gens don't have the tracks in the floor to do what you did with the cargo rack.

Yes, but no, it isn't on their site as far as I can see. I'll probably end up fabricating one myself at work.

Well he did say he spoke to them (619-440-7415) so they might not have updated their site yet. It looks like it is just a variation of their JK Utility Rack . I know when I first got my BajaRack it took over a year before they even listed the model. Can't hurt to ask them.
