Oh Yeah you miss that. On the 4runner I blew two connecting rods @ paine hill. so I pulled the rod ends on the trail and broke the rest of the rod off the rod journal put them back in and fired it up. So it became a V4 and brove it to the truck stop @ruby road. The bright red 4runner is the body for the V8 4runner frame. The engine in that one is a V6 also, but it only has 5000 miles on it. So that is replacing the blown V6 in the dark red 4runner. Same size, engine, just a lot lower miles. I got the bright red 4runner for $500.00, so I thought it was a awesome deal. |

That is an awesome deal. Good luck on the swap. How did you blow the rods? High mileage? I am sure you didn't let it get low on oil or let it overheat, |

How did you blow the rods? High mileage? I am sure you didn't let it get low on oil or let it overheat, well it had 148,000 miles on it but it was the idiot driver that killed it. It was just the 4 feet of water hole and 3'6" to the air cleaner intake. that was the problem. The hood went under water and hydro locked two cyl. It broke the connecting rods right off. so I did the trail fix and was driving home on 4 cyl, but the block was cracked in the cyl. wall. Coolant mixed with the oil and it was all done after that. In the water hole I had about 3-4" of water inside on the floor of the runner. the pics. and vids are in the offfroading for autisun run. Now there is a Red Sub in the group to go with the 2 yellow ones. I guess It's snorkle time |

Well here is an update the new engine is in and running. I still have the radiator and belts and fan to put in but thats it . It was a little wet this morning but cleared up so I could work on it. Here are some pics. of the old engine comming out today. Good thing that the engine hoist goes up this high BYE BYE V4 the trans looks so lonely My nice and clean engine compartment Right now you can see my remote trans cooler in the lower left corner. Oh yeah and my brandnew!!! starter setting on the upper control arm. V4 going to it's final resting place. Here's a shot of the pilot bearing that I have to pull out so that the torque converter hub can fit in it's place. Thats all for now, I lost daylight and the wife is yelling for me to come in and stop playing with my truck. I will have to finish it up after work tomorrow. I'll take some more pics. in the daylight it got too dark to take any more today. |
