I don’t know if any of you like jazz however if ya do today is the birthday of Thelonious Monk. He was, IMHO, one of the greatest musicians, composers and musical innovators that ever lived. I met him once when I was a little kid and did not know he was anything but “the crazy piano player from across the street” when he would shoot pool in a place my dad worked on the west side of Manhattan. Check out Thelonious Monk on piano, Charlie Rouse on tenor saxophone, Frankie Dunlop on drums and Butch Warren on bass back in 1963; |

Awesome !! Jazz I think is heard by the ear but felt in the soul... I can see the music just flowing through him... live Jazz is unique in that you can hear the same song over and over but is always different as they feel what needs to be in there at that time... |
