Looks like Sunday June 12th, Saturday June 18th, and Sunday June 26th are good so far…I need to check with my wife on the dates before I can lock any of them in.
At this time in my life I am a fair weather rider. I do this as easy recreation; daytime, nice weather only.

I used to enjoy giving young women motorcycle rides but that was back in the day before I got married…it wasn’t about riding the bike…

It was always about the bike. Trim just makes the ride better looking.

I am ok with only good weather riding.

June 18 looks good for me. Want to make the 25th a rain date?

Tom, do you want to meet at the Bear Mountain Inn (they may charge for parking if we meet there) or at West Point (in town, free parking just before the gate to the academy) and ride up together? We can catch the Storm King Highway from there.

How about at West Point around 9:00? There is a parking area across the street from the West Point Military Museum that is free.

I plan to leave from Church Ave & E 5th St, Brooklyn, NY 11218 around 7am on Saturday, June 18th, 2016 (Route).
That should put me at West Point Museum, 2110 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996 by 9am to meet Ken. We can give folks until 9:30am to show up and then take 9w (Route) to
Sweet Sue's, 49 Main Street Phoenicia, NY 12464. We should be there around 11:30am-Noon. Hang for lunch and figure out where to ride or head home..,it might take me 3 hours to get home from the dinner so I'd be cool with that...

i'll talk to the wife to make sure i don't have anything going on that day, will let you know asap. that's about 2 hours from me, so as long as i feel comfortable with the bike by then i'm in (still only have 100 miles on it, weather and schedule have not been cooperating)

i will post up as soon as i know either way

i wonder if tim still rides? i just saw him back in november but if he can make it out there too it would be pretty rad

I talked with a guy from the office whose sport touring club does day long trips through lower New York State. At least once a year they do a ride to Phoenicia. Their routes are mostly county roads and secondary roads (paved), with a number of turns. Very little Route 9W. For those of us meeting a West Point, we can pick up the route there, and take the Storm King Highway, and then back roads from there. If you have a Garmin gps system and want a copy of the route, let me know and give me your email. The route will probably be around 2 1/12 hours from West Point to Phoenicia. The route back is different, and ends in Tuxedo.

Also, my friend highly recommends Sweet Sue's instead of the Phoenicia Diner for lunch. It seems that Sweet Sue's is legendary in the area, especially for breakfast type foods (although they have other stuff as well. Here are a couple of links to Sweet Sue's:

Zagat's gives it a high rating on food. https://www.zagat.com/r/sweet-sues-phoenicia

Local article: https://catskilleats.com/2015/12/09/phoenicia-pancake-house-sweet-sues-to-reopen-in-2016-owner-says/

Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sweet-sues-restaurant-phoenicia

Let me know if you want to switch to Sweet Sue's from the Phoenicia Diner.

It is a Garmin data file. PM your email address so I can send it.

It is a data file containing the coordinates of the route that a Garmin gps uses to determine the route and issue turning instructions as you go. When you load it into your gps, your gps will then have the route and guide you along it.
