8) Ha!

Motorcycling is more to me now than just riding.

I’ve been riding since I was a teenager so more than 40 years now. When I started it was all about riding and living the s.q.u.i.d. life.

When I felt I’d out lived that faze (more like survived it) and my kids were born I sold my bike.

When the kids got older I got the “Fat Boy”; big, comfys however, as I’ve said, after riding it for a few years I wanted to get back to something a bit more sporty and thus the sportster.

I never got into the social aspect of the “Harley lifestyle”. Don’t belong to HOG or go on group rides or attend M&G’s or rally’s but admit to enjoying the Harley cache, riding a bit aggressively and being a poser…

It’s almost like the way I am with my Xterra.

That said, don’t let anyone kid you; IMHO everyone that owns a Harley is a poser. If it was just about the V-Twin rumble and riding we’d all have Beemers.

The plate on my old '84 Honda;

…was “TOMS V4”
Check out the blue hand grips and name pinstriped on the cowl. It said “Tommy” on one side and “BethAnn” (my girlfriend at the time…now my wife) on the other. So fucking cool….I'm a poser from way back yo...

I went down to Union Garage and picked up a RAM mount for navigation/iphone;

They let me take the display out to my bike to make sure it fit without hitting the tank. I might run a power cord to it from the battery but want to live with it a bit first.

I also picked up a KRIEGA US-10 Drybag from them;

Both cost me less than I could have paid on amazon or revzella and I support a local Brooklyn business. Niiice.

I added the sissy bar with a pad and will unclip the bag when my sweetie wants to join me…

Rams mounts are great, I have a similar setup (won at a B2SR raffle). I tapped into the rear taillight for power so it's ignition controlled instead of direct wiring to the battery though.
The dry bag looks cool...might look at replacing my tank bag with one of those.

Second on those RAM mounts. I have been using one in the Xterra since 2002 for my gps. I added one to my touring bike for the gps. They are secure and hold up well.

I have heard a lot of good things about those dry bags. I don't have one, as my tail bags have rain covers.

Looking good in 'hood.

Nice picture, but I cannot figure where you were to get all 3 in the background.

Staten Island, north of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Kind of a wasteland imho but home to Harley Davidson of Staten Island (formerly Lombardi's) where I bought the bike.

Nice, Tom. Does that become your daily driver for the season, weather pending?

Nope. If the weather is nice I ride my bicycle to and from work (about 3 miles each way). This thing is strictly a toy.

Tom,

Fired mine up the previous weekend. Started just fine, even though the battery was not on a tender over the winter.

I use mine to commute to work when the weather is good. However, I miscalculated last week and got caught in a heavy shower around 6:30 on my way home. Got soaked. Was not the first time, won't be the last.

Still working on my old bike. Having some trouble getting it to turn over. Seems to get fuel and spark. Should have been getting enough air, but I am changing the filter anyway and will try it then.

Always up for a ride on weekends. We have tried for a few years to set something up, but it always falls apart. I am open if anyone wants to set something up.

Rode her up to the Poconos this past weekend. She's running so well I'm ashamed to admit I participated in some high speed antics on the interstate and rode without a hat in PA helping to perpetuate an outlaw image I normally try to dispel... :oops:
