What?
A day of wine tasting on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail (North of Ithaca), followed by a cookout at Taughannock Falls State Park.

When?
August 12th, 2006.

We will meet at the Taughannock Falls overlook on Taughannock Park Rd (just off Rt. 89) in the morning and head out to the wineries from there. By the way..if you have never seen Taughannock Falls, it is 215 feet tall, which is 33 feet taller than Niagara and is the highest vertical single drop waterfall in the Northeastern U.S.

Directions
The park is located about 8 miles North from Ithaca or 4 miles South from Trumansburg along Route 89. From the New York State Thruway, take Exit 41 to 318 East for 4 miles. Head South on Route 89 for 35 miles.

Camping?
We plan on camping at Taughannock Falls State Park as well. Sites are $13.00 per night and there is a 2 night min. on the weekends. ReserveAmerica charges a $9 "handeling fee". (What do you expect from the same company that owns ticketmaster?). You will need to make your own reservations for a campsite and should do so ASAP. Click here to make reservations.

I have already reserved site 23 for myself, so shoot for that area so we can all be near each other.

Keep in mind the weekend camping sites fill up fast once summer draws near and the NASCAR race at The Glen is the same weekend so we may see overflow traffic from that.

Pets?
State Park Policy: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet. Proof of rabies inoculation. Not allowed in bathing areas.Pet owners must show a current rabies certificate.

Food?
We will stop to eat for lunch while visiting the wineries. There will be a small per-person fee for cookout at the park. The fee will cover all the food. Drinks will be on your own.

Which Wineries?
We plan on visiting around 6 wineries. We will be starting at Swedish Hill Vineyard in Romulus, NY and working our way back to the park. Other winery stops include Knapp, Goose Watch, Lucas, Bellwether Hard Cider, and Americana. Download the day's schedule here.

Interested?
If you are interested in going please let us know and let us know the following:

a. will you be wine tasting or just coming for the camping and cookout?
b. will you be coming to the cookout?
c. will you be camping? (and how many nights?)

Who's Going?

1. micah & erin - wine, bbq, camping saturday (site 23)
2. anthony & kim - wine, bbq, camping (site 25)
3. scott & janelle - wine, bbq, camping (site 24)
4. jeff & mandy - wine, bbq, camping (site 22)
5. jason & wife - wine, bbq, camping (site 21)

Awesome. I love the logo.

Any issues with bringing the little man? He will be 6 months old.

I don't see that being a problem, since he is still little and your carrying him still.

I think the wineries might have a problem with kids running around though...plus wineries are pretty boring when your a kid (I remember going to a few with my parents).

It would probably be a good idea to book campsites ASAP,usually when there is a NASCAR event happening lodging accomodations (camp sites included) within many many miles become scarce or next to impossible to get...just a thought.

This sounds like fun I'll let ya know by saturday if I'm going.

So could those who only want to camp saturday just share a site with a 2-nighter?

Ok..more details...

I just booked my site for Friday & Saturday nights. I reserved site #23.

It would be nice if we could try and all be near each other, so try and shoot for sites around 23. Right now, you have your choice.

Pets: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet. Proof of rabies inoculation. Not allowed in bathing areas.Pet owners must show a current rabies certificate.

Here's a link to book the campsite:
http://www.reserveamerica.com/jsp/commo ... index.html

also, i booked my site #25 for 4 people and 2 vehicles, so if someone wants to come for just saturday night, we should be able to share the site without a problem.
