according to the website, the parade begins at 10:30AM.

Quote:
Over 125 entries including nationally recognized marching bands, and drum and bugle corps will wind their way down South Avenue and turn down Highland Avenue in the largest parade the Lilac Festival has ever hosted. The 2007 parade will feature more than 20 marching bands, local dignitaries, school bands and school children from all areas of Monroe County. The Lilac Parade begins at Science Parkway off South Avenue, and continues down South Avenue to Highland Avenue, and Highland Avenue to Goodman Street.

I am going to call them tomorrow, as I haven't received the info yet. I will post as soon as I know.

You'll most likely have to forgo the muddy look. When I drove my X in the Rochester St. Pat's parade the club was told:
1. clean vehicles (mud dropping off trucks might cause problems for those behind us)
2. do not throw anything to the crowd (afraid kids will run under a truck) and
3. no unsafe behavior (dogpiles, etc.)
Are these the same for Lilac Fest?

You will have a lot of fun! :D
I hope to get there to see you all!

Sorry for the delay in information guys. I have been waiting for a call back from the parade coordinator, and haven't heard back. I called her again and talked to someone in her household (her son I think). He said I should have the information package tomorrow, as they were mailed out yesterday.

Here is what he was able to tell me though.

- We will be meeting to line up on Science Parkway
- We should arive between 8:00-8:15am, and NO later than 8:30am, as roads will start to be blocked at 8:45am by the Sherrif's deputies.
- I will have the Parade participant passes for everyone. So I will get there early and try to wait by the person that lets us in so I can hand you the pass as you arrive.

Again, I apologize that it has taken this long to get the info, and I'll post more tomorrow (hopefully) when I get the official information.

For anyone attending the parade, but not riding in the parade, Park for free at Monroe Community College (3 miles south of the festival at 100 East Henrietta Rd, Brighton, NY) and there will be a shuttle. There will be no street parking available.

For more info, visit http://www.lilacfestival.com

Thanks!
~Anthony

PS: If you can decorate your vehicle somehow (flowers, etc) that will be great. And I will be giving a Prize to the best-decorated vehicle in the group. :)

I'm already catching enough crap from Tom just for being in this Parade...there's no way that I'm going to flower up my truck! LOL

Oh yeah, Anthony, Josh said he probably wouldn't make it as his truck is going to be all stripped down and boring looking to go in for an Insurance appraisal.

First off...I'm shocked to hear that a parade for a festival of this size is only sending out their info packets this week. That's crazy. I'm in the St. Patty's Day parade here each year, and we know a month ahead of time what time we are stepping off and from where.

8am? holy crap...we are going to have to leave early!!!

Micah, my roommate is leaving for the weekend, so you guys are more than welcome to come up Friday night and crash at my place. I've got a small air mattress and a big couch.

thanks for the offer, but its hard enough to arrange for babysitting for the day, let alone an overnight. We got it worked out now, so we should be okay to get up there in time. (just had to convince the mother-in-law into letting us drop off the boys at 5am!)

Wow, thats quite a bit earlier than I was expecting. I honestly don't think that I can make it out there in time for the parade..... I still plan on getting out there and meeting up with everyone for a little while. Anthony, I'll call you tomorrow and let you know for sure, but until then I apologize, but I think you'll need to replace me too.
