NEXTerra Summit & MaBell Run - 2019

When: Saturday, June 15, 2019

Meeting Time: 9.30 M. Leaving for the trails at 9.45 AM

Meeting Location: 880 Chesterfield Road, Westhampton MA
42Ā°21'06.1"N 72Ā°46'31.3"W

Wheeling Locations: Summit first in the morning & MaBell after.

Waivers: All attendees (drivers & passengers) must sign and hand in the NEXTerra waiver (open HERE). Please print it out, sign it, and bring it with you the day of the event

Trail Details:
We will be wheeling on private property that we have access to through the North East Association of 4Wheel Drive Clubs (NEA). Unless you are with NEXTerra you will be trespassing, therefore all attendees must be registered members of NEXTerra and be signed up to attend.

Please ensure you meet minimum requirements if planning on running the hard trails. Due to the high likelihood of damage without them, you are required to meet the minimum mandatory requirements.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Summit
The Summit property will be run first. The location has both a stock & hard trails. The stock side has hard green/easy blue type trails suitable for stock trucks equipped with full skid plates & sliders. Hard trails for modified rigs only & contain large rocks, tight trails, no by-passes. Damage possible.

Min. Requirements -
Stock trails - full skids, sliders mandatory. Lift & tires recommended.

Hard trails - min. 32's, full armor, front & rear tow points, lift, aggressive tires mandatory. Lockers/winch, aftermarket bumpers recommended. Expect your full skids/bumper to get a full workout.
-----------------------------------------------------------

MaBell
MaBell was moderate to hard in difficulty in past years. However, recently the trail has become more washed out, making it harder. The trail has multiple rock ledges all the way to the top, back down & is essentially a long climb up.

Min. Requirements - Sliders, 32's, front & rear recovery points, full skids. Lockers/winch would help. Expect skids/sliders to get a workout.

You will be required to air down. There are no services close by, stock up on gas & food well before you get to the meeting location. If your rig is stock or lightly modified, it's recommended that you ride along with a more modified rig for the hard trails. There's plenty of parking at the trail head.

As the defacto run leader, I may switch which property we run first depending on who's signed up & their rig capabilities.

Checkout the older run threads for pictures & videos to see what the properties are like. YouTube also has some good videos.

I think my rig is only Summit capable. This one is going to come down to the wire. It will depend on whether I get my diff skid installed and what kind of mood my wife is in

I'll leave it to the group to decide what line I should take. But after brookridge, I know what I can handle.

I think MA Bell is the easier of the two. The ā€œModerateā€ trails at the Summit are good, technical trails that will test you. Iā€™m looking forward to running them.

 Suresh, take your cranky pants off. Wait, no, leave them on.

Will, Ma Bell is the harder property, but the back rock gardens at the summit are challenging.

Sorry guys, I'm out. My back is on the fritz and there's no way I can replace my diff cover in time (it's currently about 75% peeled and a solid hit on a rock could be very bad)

Hope you feel better. I need to redo my front diff cover this weekend too.

After having to bail out last year and not being able to run much at all this year, I really wanted to go... I'm a game time decision. We've crashed the racecar every week but 2 this year so we've been working a lot of extra time to get it ready. If we race the 15th I'm out, if we don't then I'm in, but I won't know until the week of the run.
