Hi all! I'm Chris - first time truck owner but long time auto enthusiast and admirer of the Nissan Xterra. I've always fancied the good looks and utility of the X and now I finally have one!
Very happy with my latest acquisition and so without further ado, I'd like to formally introduce my 2005 Red Brawn SE 4x4.
Some highlights:
-Purchased early January w/ 114k, now approaching 116.5k. (A lot of miles for me since I only drive on weekends)k
-PO SMOD victim, transmission, radiator and other parts replaced by Nissan in late 2014
-Timing chain/tensioner/t-stat replaced by Nissan in fall of 2015 (not sure about the water pump, why wasn't it all done at same time?!)
Some maintenance / upgrades I performed since I've owned her:
-Centric Premium Rotors / Raybestos EHT pads, new caliper guide pins/ boots all around; brake fluid flush (no noise but was def due)
-Replaced serpentine belt tensioner (was chirping every now and then, belt slipped one evening)
-New battery
-Replaced cabin filters (looked original and were installed upside down)
- Oil change (Rotella T6 5w/40 and Mobil 1 filter)
- New power steering fluid (in progress, turkey baster method, on 3rd cycle)
-Cleaned K&N filter, throttle body, relearn (what a pain!)
-13" antenna from Amazon
-3x4" rubber mat from Home Depot for rear cargo
-Bosch Icon wipers
Near future upgrades / maintenance:
-Bilstein 4600's all around (plan to install the rears myself but need help or a recommended shop to do fronts for me - suggestions please)
-Perhaps a Magnaflow 12580 muffler and new piping to replace the Y-Pipe, keep stock tailpipe (noticed a hole on the muffler while doing the rear brakes)
-Rear and front diff oil change
-Restore faded plastics, rust spots on rear bumper
-Update car audio eventually
-Oem NGK spark plugs
-Rear lift supports
-Powdercoat wheels (appears PO only spray painted them)
That's all for right now. Really just want to restore and freshen her up before any real modding. Look forward to learning and interacting with you guys!
Thank you!
