If you read the post above, you will see we've had one of us (AND HIS WIFE) serving our country in the war.

Last year we sent him a care package over in Iraq that he received in October.

This year, we are going to put together a 'Welcome Home' package as him and his wife (Shana) are due home in November. We will be collecting items at the B2SR to give them. Anthony is going to take care of getting the package to him as he lives close to him.

I honestly have no idea what you would give as a welcome home gift but use your imagination...I'll probably do a gift certificate to like Olive Garden or something.

I thought this might be a nice way of, once again, saying thank you and welcome home.

Gift ideas:
- Home Depot gift card
- Liquor
- Dunkin Doughnuts gift card
- Amex gift card

Basically, from what I've learned, these returning troops are pretty well beat when they get home and want to just relax, spend time with family and do things that provide a degree of normalcy to their lives.

So, maybe we could gather funds and contribute to buy a few different items and then include in the package, a few personal items.

For example, I'd kick in to buy him supporting member status if he doesn't have that yet.

This is a really great gesture, and I'm sure it will be really really appreciated by both Tim and Shana.

Anything you guys think they might like, you are welcome to contribute. They'll be returning from a YEAR and a HALF in the "sandbox" so I'm sure they would love just about anything that they have been doing without over there.

Shortly after they return home, they are also going to be starting to search for a house. So anything related to that would also be good, perhaps a few people would like to chip in on a gift card for Home Depot, Bed Bath Beyond, Walmart, or along those lines.

I spent a small fortune there as well.
So, I'd chip in for that.

Another idea might be to chip in on a Shrockworks or 4x4parts.com gift certificate for Tim. (although this would leave out Shana).

All right, I'm going in on a gift card from Home Depot.

Anyone want to go in on one with me?

Figure we can just pool our money and get a good sized one.
