So after my close encounter with mother nature yesterday, I obviously need a new bumper.

There is, of course only one choice for Xterra bumpers, and that is Shrockworks...

The only question is... Do I get the standard bumper, knowing a body lift is in my future... and then live with a gap later? Or do I get the BL bumper and the body lift now, but live with tiny tires for a while until I need (and can afford) new/larger tires?

I assume the best choice is to get the BL and BL matched bumper now and live with puny tires for a while.

Oh... the other factor is that I probably won't be able to install the body lift until the spring or such... cause I don't like to work in my driveway in the snow.

We can get it done before that. Or, you could probably get a bumper that could be moved up in the future, it's just another set of holes.

I guess what I can do is order the BL, the ac condenser and the bumper now, and then take another road trip to the DaggerDoggie Auto-shop to install the BL and condenser, and just leave the stock bumper off until the shrock gets here....

???

Do the BL as it is probably one of the most inexpensive mods. Then send your springs down to Dave C and have them re-worked.

I've PM'd him to ask if he'll sell without the bumper brackets, which I don't need.

Without them, I can get it for 185 brand new.

Oh, I also called Jim today and put in my order for the 2" BL version of the bumper...

Order is currently on hold pending where I want it shipped... since I don't live at a commercial address, it would be more expensive to ship to my house. Plus I don't think I can install it myself.

I'm actually not too late to this discussion for a change, but you made your decision too quick! :)

I was asking myself the same question you are...and I also did the BL knowing that I wanted to get the BL matched bumper. I had the bumper shipped to my house. I can help you put the bumper on man, It's really quick going on, but yeah, two sets of hands and a floor jack make it that easy. I agree with your decision and just live with the tires, they're soo knobby though that it gives them the illusion of being bigger.

I did the BL in my driveway last year in October...wasn't too bad. Though with all this rain we've been having, this year is miserable.

Since you already made you decision and I hadn't posted yet, I just wanted to help support your decision 8)

I think I'll be doing the bumper at home.

We are gonna try to work everything else into a mod day... date TBD

BL, AC Condenser, and Fender.

Keep me up to date on the mod day. If I can make it I will.

I have NO Idea who this dave C guy is other that he has a cool name and his last name starts with an equally cool letter.

if he re-works spring too I do not know but I, AlliedAcid, aka Dave, get springs reworked. waiting list is about 4-5 deep.

Anthony, I do not know what the work load is going to be like for the wknd that Scott, Jeff, and I are gonna be doing for my BL and bumper, but from what Scott tells me, it takes about a full day to do the BL and not very long to do the bumpers, especially if you've got a bunch of people. If your going to do the bumper yourself, you should try and come down to Scotts when we do my BL. We could yours one day and mine the next. The more hands the better (usually. Sorry bout the PML Jeff!).

We can do two in a weekend, as long as all goes well. Don't pay attention to TJ, he's full of crap, it's not a 3 hour job and he didn't do his in three hours.
