We are looking for "Trail Leaders" at this year’s ECXC.
You must meet the following qualifications to lead trails:

-Fully Registered ECXC Driver
-Familiarity with Rausch, the trails you would like to run, ECXC Trail Ratings, Rausch Rules and Regulations.
-A vehicle capable of handling the trails you'd like to lead.
-Competence in leading a group.
-Competence in spotting, recovery, safety practices.
-Good communication skills.
-Ability to be in the Rausch parking lot at 7:30am on days assigned to lead ready to go.

If you have questions about Leading please feel free ask within this thread or PM me on this board.

If you would like to lead a group please indicate so during your sign up (when it opens) with;
Trail Level you would be willing to lead (Stock, Intermediate, Advance)
Days you would be willing to lead a group (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
I will contact you at the email you provide during sign up.

Not everyone that offers to lead trails will get the opportunity to do so, but everyone's offer will be considered. ECXC Organizers have the final say in who leads.

Thank you for your attention.

I can lead whatever you need on Saturday. Not sure if I'll be there Thursday or Friday. Started a new job so no vacation days yet.

I can lead intermediate (stock if necessary) on any day (Thursday Friday or Saturday). But I only want to lead for one day and do advanced trails the other days.

Tom I enjoyed leading the Green group last year. Please put me down for leading Green on Thursday for now.

I indicated on sign up too. I can lead blues on Friday & Saturday. Greens on one of those days if needed.

On Thursday, my preference is to wheel blacks, but if blue or green leaders are needed for that day, I could jump in.
Thx.

I can lead blues on any of the days. Can lead greens Thursday, if needed.

I think a small group of us are going to try to run a nice leisurely paced purple or two on Thursday.

Friday and Saturday I am up for leading green or blues. Whatever is needed.

Purple on Tuesday? Like "13" and/or "22"? Who's in your group and are you going to lead them?

Thanks.

Thursday.
13 is the main target. If we aren't exhausted, 22 and Snakebite (i guess that is a black) are on the list.

So far Jeff Burgess (jeffnjm3), Josh Sexton (jsexton) and myself. We are up for company we just plan on taking it slow. I guess I would be official lead but we all know what's up.

Very cool!

“13” and “22” you really can’t do “fast”. I’ve been through “13” in less time than normal but usually in the winter when the voids of the trail are filled with ice and snow and kind of flatten it out…and of course no one breaks anything.

If I remember correctly “22” has is tough at the bottom. I almost flipped over taking a bad line and slipping off a boulder going down and there is a crazy turn and climb up after that requires a bit of skinny pedal balls; lots of fun.

“Snakebite” starts off a “Purple” that has been widened and flattened since they clear cut around it. That’s really not worse than any “Blue” you’ve been on now. You guys will breeze through it.

The middle part is a “Black” with a short section of two options; high and low near the end.

The low is a rock garden that you’ll need to pick your way through.

The high is tight and can get you a bit off camber at times. It can get a bit scary and is too narrow to turn around or back out of so you might want to walk it before you try it. I wouldn’t run the high option in the winter or the rain.

The last part is a “Black” wide rock garden with many lines to pick. You guys should handle it without a problem.

I normally try to run “13” first whenever I visit Rausch to avoid any crowd. So if you and your group want to run it with me it would be great.

It is my favorite trail and has been different every time I’ve run it.

If it’s not raining I might run “16”, the “Black” hill climb at the end of “13” I pussied out of running it last time I was there...

Yikes!

Thanks!

Wasn't sure on 22 but we have run 1/3 of snakebite before.

Jeff and I actually did 13 a few weeks and ago and we had a blast.

Would love to run with you but I might just watch you do 16.
