But how are you two going to compete with the SAS'd trucks?

Tom... correct me if I'm wrong.... but didn't we smoke everyone last year?

That's right... we smoked them like cheap cigars...

Here's a question - just thinking right now, but....

Does anyone have an open seat?

I definately can't afford to take my X down, and I may not have the time from work to be able to go, but if someone is willing to let me ride along with them for the weekend...

I'm sure we could find you a spot...

Did any SAS's enter last year?? What was the layout/difficulty/special tasks of the '08 challenge?

no SAS last year.. 5 teams between 1st and 2nd gens. The layout was pretty good with a climb that we were supposed to need to winch up (which we didn't have to do), the rock garden (that Tom and I pretty much blasted through) and then some technical work that was fun as well.

Overall, I thought the two challenges were fairly similar, with the exception being that we didn't need to winch where it was expected that it'd be needed.

There was one SAS team that did not compete, Dana (new leaf spring SAS) and Brock (Truggy). Both had problems; Dana kept cutting one of his front brake lines and Brock, I think, had drive shaft troubles.

Unfortunately for all you other teams; according to last years rules Mikes 4 link will not bump him/us/Team Nexterra into the ?modified? class.

Phoenix from the ECXC site wrote:
This year we will be using two (2) team classes for the Challenge: Stock and Modified. The stock class will be for all Xterra?s that retain their original drive train and axles; any other modifications will be permitted. The modified class will be for Xterras that have undergone an axle swap (SAS) or engine swap (don?t know of any but we?ll be covered just in case). Non-Xterra?s will not be permitted to participate in the Challenge.

Check the complete rules HERE

My junk will also be a bit different then last year...

?but not enough to push us into the ?modified? class.

Sorry.

Jeeze, guys, I was hoping that the mods to my truck this year would help close the gap a little... Guess I'm going to have to work a little harder...

Now that I am unemployed I am attaching a helicopter system to my X so I can fly over the whole course...but because I didn't swap the drivetrain or engine, I will still be in the "stock" class....

That was me and Lenny, My X was NOT SAS'd at that time. Just the Jeep.
