Hello!
I have a 2006 xterra "off road" that has the Rockford fosgate 6cd changer. I am surprised that such a good sounding audio system doesn't have an aux input, especially for an 06!

My question is, what have people done to change this? I read on the older xterras that there was a kit you could buy that plugs into the back of the existing stereo head. Being newer, I'm not sure that's the case for me. Do the newer xterra stereos have an aux input? If so, is it a direct swap?

Do I have to hard wire something in before the amp?

I'd like to keep the steering wheel functionality as well.

I would go for one of those fm takeover devices, but I'm a snob when it comes to audio quality lol

What are my options?

The Rockford in my 07' Off-Road was what I loved most about my truck...I'm also a sound snob LoL

I don't know much, except for this...

My 07' had a factory aux jack located just above where the aux outlets are on the right side of the center console...next to the glove box.

My 05' Off-road does NOT have an aux jack...so, they must have started adding them in 07'. If you can find someone who has an 07' maybe they can trace it back and tell you how it works from the factory...

P.S. I bought my 13' Pro-4X for 2 reasons...locking diffs and Rockford Fosgate

I have an 06 and added an after market aux port. I'll have to find the part numbers and directions.

if you can find a part no, it would be much appreciated. I bought one but it seems to be the one for 07 and up models. A least I could return it to Walmart lol

Looks lke the part I bought years ago is now discontinued.

This worked with the stock RF stereo, plugging into the Satellite port on the back of the stereo. From there, I then bought an aux port from this site to connect to the PAC Audio device:

I found this on PAC Audio's site - it might work: http://pac-audio.com/productDetails.asp ... egoryID=45

Or poke around that Autotoys site - they may have a kit.

The OEM Aux port premiered in the '07 models. I did a lot of research on that jack, and unfortunately, you can't just buy it and connect it to your '06 stereo; you need the wiring harness to go with it. And even if you could get the wiring harness, I don't know if the '06 RF stereo would recognize it.

So as it turns out, the "I simple" brand doesn't make one for the 06 and older stereo. But GROM does!
