A quick update here, and a shout-out to the local dealer.

As I mentioned before, I replaced the shaft myself as I was swapping out my steering box, since I was already that deep and figured that the dealer wouldn't touch it with a BL extension attached. When I bought the replacement one, they couldn't just give it to me as the recall, I had to buy it for around $150.

I recently took the truck into the dealer to have the oil pan replaced since I didn't have the time to do it myself. They noticed the recall was still open, and that I had purchased the part from them a few months prior. They gave me a credit towards my oil pan change for the cost of the steering shaft and took the recall off of the records!

I just got a letter yesterday about a recall on my 2011 about the bolts on the oil cooler (or something like that) I haven't called the dealer yet but everyone with a 2011 (maybe all 2nd gen?) should check that to.
