2012 PRO (50k)

Not sure if this has been discussed yet or not....

So I'm getting a metallic clanging almost grinding like sound when making hard left turns only, left bends above 15mph. It sounds like a skid plate could be loose and bouncing around. I've already test drove it with the plates off and it still makes the same sounds. I can't seems to figure out what it is.

It was mentioned to jack it up and try wiggling the driver's front wheel around to see if there's an issue there. Has anyone else experienced something like this or know what the exact problem is before I have to go to a repair shop?

Check your backing plates on your front brakes
you should be able to push them back a little with a screwdriver thru the rim.
the rotor contacts the plate on turns if it is too close or if a stone gets in there.

also the clamps on the heat shields pop off and the shields will rattle as well.

but sounds more like the plates
push them back a little and road test again.

Yeah,

Jack your car up, jiggle the wheels in a 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock postion and then do 9 and 3 o clock. There should be no slop.

Wheel bearings make a grinding noise, especially in turns, if there is slop in both directions than thats your problem. Most likely the passnger side during left turns.

Feel free to give me a call Thomas, if you need more help, I can try to find time to swing by or meet you.

I used to get a thunk or clanging sound in the front of my Frontier. It was because one of the LCA bolts was loose and it would shift inwards or outwards depending on which direction I turned.

I've gotten the same kind of sound with the X, and it ended up being the stock engine skid being bent and popping over a panel next to it every time it got tweaked.

I had the same lca bolt issue. Took me a trip to the dealer to figure it out. Drove me crazy for like 2 months.

I'd check that and wheel bearings
