After the finance filled the tank the other day this light came on the dash. Manual says ir was most likely the gas cap. I checked and it was tightened properly and the finance said she tightened it til it clicked.
And the gas gauge took 3 days and 5 trips both long and shoart to register a full tank.

What year is your X? If you have a second gen (2005+) your FSU is on its way out. Mine has been bad since the fall, and I havent changed it as it takes a while for it to register after fill ups but ik ok when fuel level is going down.

I had that happen in 2005 and it was the O2 sensor that caused it.
Since I needed to replace the timing belt and water pump, I had it all done at once.

It's not a huge deal to resolve, but make sure that you go to a shop that you trust to do the work. I didn't know any better at the time and ended up spending about $1200 for all of the work and, now that I know better, could have paid about $800 for the same work, including better parts and installed by people that I have more confidence in.

Get to autozone and have the codes read... that will tell you what's throwing the flag and give you a better idea of what needs to be addressed.

Yesterday I actually had a half tank of gas and when I filled up it registered as empty for the first 150 miles and then registered as full.

I pass an autozone today so ill do it on my way to work and then give an update on it.

Yeah, sounds like the FSU. Check with the dealer - I believe there was a recall.

All the info I can find is that the recall was for the 06first and 08s. Ill call today. But on the other hand I was getting gas again yesterday and I decided I would completely remove the key from the ignition. When I started back up the needle pinged to the correct spot. When I started again after work the light was off. I am due for an oil change this week so ill have my mechanic check it out then.
