Where have you guys mounted your CB Radios?

I just picked up a cheap Midland CB last night at Wal-Mart. It's nice and small which I like. i got it all hooked up, just need to mount it. I'm pretty sure i know where I'm going to mount, but just wondering what other people have come up with.

I also picked up one of those "cell-phone look-a-like antennas" like Dagger has. Cheap and easy. Seems to work pretty well, though I'm having some problems keeping the inside box stuck to the window!

I mounted mine on the cover for the shifter. It was fast and easy. I mounted it sidways near the passenger side. It's close to power, I just tapped into the lighter wires and that cover comes off with four screws.

I'd post a pic, but I don't have any.

Yeah, that's where I'm going to mount mine most likely.

Scott..do you like your window mount antenna? Any problems with it? I figure I'll mostly use my CB for trail riding and convoying, so it should be fine.

I like the window mount antenna. I probably doesn't give me the distance of a long whip. but it works fine on the trails. Also, I didn't have to drill any holes in the X. I've done enough of that.;)

I got the radio mounted tonight and finnaly got the inside box of the antenna to stick to the window. Drove down the highway a bit a it seem to pick up the truckers well and they answered my radio test so it must be transmitting as well.

Nice work. I only got the CB for offroad, but it is handy to have and I leave it on channel 19 all the time now.

I use to have a window mount antenna and it worked pretty good on the highway, but if I was in a city setting it didn't do so very well...should be fine for wheeling...I want to get one for my X...I use to have a Midland (Wal-Mart special) and it worked great.

I just picked up a Uniden PC68LTW for the X. I was wondering where I was going to mount the sucker and asked the same question over at NOR. I'm still not sure where I'm going to mount it but I still like my idea of mounting it to the ceiling above the front passenger's head, facing it toward me. Anywhere else would add more clutter to an already small cabin. The sunroof prevents mounting it to other places on the ceiling.

I'll be mounting a 3ft Firestik Firefly no ground plane antenna to the Shrockworks rear bumper spare tire mount so no holes to drill there. It'll have a 3" spring and a quick disconnect mount. At least 2/3 of the antenna should be above the roofline if the antenna tab on the tire mount is where I requested.

Should work pretty well.

I plan on getting a CB for my X,I'm thinking of mounting it in the center console under the radio,I'm debating on getting the trusty old magnet mount antenna or getting a whip like my fellow truckers have.
