If you are in 4-Lo, does reverse get the gear reduction as well? |

I'm ashamed to admit I was watching Chicago Fire on TV and there was a scene where a bus tipped over and they used a Wrangler (right) and some chains to pull it back onto its wheels. So the driver basically throws it in reverse and stomps on the gas. I thought about how I would do it. I figured 4-Lo with a soft touch. But I wasn't sure if 4-Lo affected reverse. Hence, this completely asinine conversation! |

I don't think it's a dumb question although I think you would have figured it out if it wasn't easier to just ask your non- judgemental friends. Your Transmission (forward gears/reverse) is before the Transfer Case (2WD/N/4H/4L) then the driveshaft(s) |

That said, I would not “pull” a vehicle with my transmission in reverse. I’d rather have it in a low forward gear. As a rule I “pull” or tow from the back and winch from the front, transmission in “park” and parking brake engaged. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
