So my wife asks me tonight, do you know everything you should be Bringing for the trail. Im like.... yeah! Then I get the soulful stare. So I guess my question to the group would be, what do I really need to bring. When we air down, should I have a portable air compressor, or will someone have one? Out of the 3k tools I have, should I bring some? Should I bring extra gas?.... I guess I need some guidance on this one.

Probably no need for extra gas. I’ve been in the position of needing to ask for the use of a compressor. The answer wasn’t no, but it is a situation that gets old fast. I’d say prepare the best you can. You can’t think of everything and with experience you will find what is helpful and what isn’t on the trail. I just went through the things I carry and weeded some things out I haven’t used.

Minimum I’d suggest.

12v compressor
Decent spare
Jack w/ support board
Shovel
Water
Lunch
Hitch tow point

What I usually bring in addition.

12v jump box
1/2” 3/8” 1/4” socket set
1/2” 3/8” beaker bar
1/2” 3/8” impact socket set
Metric box end set
Rubber mallet
2.5lb mallet
Various channel locks/adjustable/pipe wrenches
Various screwdrivers/cutters/hand tools
4’ cheater bar
MAPP torch
PB Laster
2 Dewalt organizers of various fasteners and hardware
18v 1/2” impact
18v 1/2” drill
18v impact driver
18v sawzall
18v 4” grinder
18v batteries
Spare CV shaft (or 2)
Spare fan belt
Zip ties
Gorilla tape
Electrical tape
Various fuses
Various fluids
Cigars/cutter/lighter
CB/FRS/GMRS radios
Hi lift jack
30’ tow strap
25’ snatch strap
Tire plug kit
(3) 3/4” clevis

For a multiple day trip, or far from home.

(2) 6 ton jack stands w/ support boards
Rivetnut tool with various rivetnuts
Metric tap and die set
Ammo box of 14g, 8g, 1/0 wire and various electrical connectors
Spare tie rod ends
Spare U-joints
Spare front hub assembly

Make sure you have a full tank of gas & you shouldn’t need to bring extra.

Having a compressor or co tank for airing is best. If not at GG theres a gas station close by that you can get air at.

I've got the Slime Heavy Duty 2X. Takes 2-3 minutes per tire.

What are you airing down to? 25 from 35? I go down to 12 from 40, and to put it back up to 40 take 2-3 min per tire on my ARB Twin. And it’s one of the fastes compressors out there.
