Not looking for company or nutin', just a heads up...

On Sunday morning, February 4th, 2018 I plan to pick up two of the local 4WD/Fishing permits for 2018.

I’m meeting Misha @ 0730; Plumb Beach, Belt Pkwy, 11235

Depart @ 0800 sharp. Belt Pkwy, Southern State Pkwy and Meadowbrook State Pkwy South.

We should land at the Babylon Headquarters Permit Office at Robert Moses State Park in Long Island ~0900 to purchase the “Long Island State Park 4 Wheel Beach Vehicle Fishing Permits for 2018 Season”.
A limited amount of permits are sold.
Requirements:

    Hither Hills (Year round)
    Montauk Point (Year round)
    Napeague (Year round)
Robert Moses (Democrat Point and Sore Thumb) April 1 - December 31, hours vary

After those permits are purchased (and maybe a short visit to the beach) we will be heading back The Ryan Visitor Center in Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn to get the 2018 “4WD permit for Breezy Point”.

A limited amount of permits are sold.
Requirements:
    $50 cash
    NYS Driver’s License
    NYS Vehicle Registration
    DEC Marine registry
    7 foot (minimum) fishing pole
    Reel and tackle
    Shovel
    Recovery strap
    Jack
    Jack support board
    Tire pressure gauge
Approved tires (33x12.5 or less) and spare
    Trash container (trash bag)
    Portable toilet (5 gal bucket)

Just an update;
Yesterday around noon Misha texted me that his friend was out getting the Breezy Point permit and had been waiting 2.5 hours in a line that wrapped around the building. It was the first day they started selling the only 750 of these permits available. The guy ended up with number 303. Not good.

So we went there this morning at 8:30. There were about 50 trucks there when we got there. The Ryan Visitor Center in Floyd Bennett Field where these permits are sold is located within the old Floyd Bennett Airfield. When I was a kid it was mostly abandoned. When I was a young man we would drag race our motorcycles on the abandoned airstrips. No cops. Its part of the National Park System now. An interesting place but it was f'ing freezing.

I got number 540. Crazy.

We still plan to head out to Babylon Headquarters Permit Office at Robert Moses State Park in Long Island on Sunday morning following the schedule listed in the OP but nothing afterwards.

Just an FYI,I just brought the li fishing permit yesterday. I got it at Jones beach administration building you have to park in the lot and walk up on to boardwalk. They are there 8-4 all week. Easy to get to by meadowbrook just before pencil. Signs are posted. Just In case you don’t feel like driving out to Babylon. Jones Beach: 2400 Ocean Parkway, Wantagh, 516-785-1600
