June 23nd- Sunday, 2013 @ Newport, NH

Contact: David (RCHeliman) / Suresh (DirtySocks)

Since our Gremlin Graveyard run planned for Saturday had to be cancelled, we have are putting together a little exploration party to NH for Sunday. These will be stock-moderate ClassVI roads. Exploration because this will be our first time there on our own & unfamiliar obstacles.

Please see http://www.nexterra.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6701&start=15 for details of our last trip there.

-----------------------------------------
DIFFICULTY - (credits to ENH.org for the description)
As stated above, if you are in a moderate group there will be stretches of trail that are stock-friendly / easy. But then, by design, we will encounter moderate / more difficult trails (or portions of trails) that do not have go-arounds. There will also be multiple places where those who choose to can *optionally* turn a moderate trail into a hard one by choosing the harder lines!

There will be trails that are tight in places (with vegetation encroaching into the trail). I would say the likelihood of some new pin-striping is quite high!

Also, there will be water crossings of TBD depths (it all depends on the amount of rainfall between now and the event and as you know we have already had a very wet fall!).

Therefore, for the moderate groups…
Minimum Vehicle Requirements: Rock Rails, (Real) Skid Plates & Breather Mods

By "requirements" I really mean these are
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

You either need to have them *OR* you need to have a willingness to
assume the risks associated with not having them.
It's your truck, so it's your decision.

Note that my comments are based on the assumption people are coming in an off-road vehicle. Said another way, I am assuming: 31s at minimum as well as good / solid
front and rear tow points on a "capable" off-roading vehicle.

It would also be a good idea to be equipped with a winch OR you need to be willing
to be winched or pulled by others.
-----------------------------------------

Would there be a stopping point in the middle? I'd probably have to leave early from this one too.

I have never been there but I am sure we can figure a way to get you to civilization when you need to leave.

Its basically a group of different legal roads, you could cut out at any number of places. Depending on the route some trails were moderate and not stock friendly, one of the best runs I've been on. I'm a maybe too, this is a full day trip so have to see.

This is right in my backyard, incredible trails, I could talk to trail leaders about the route as I've been out here a few times.

I am going to try my hardest to make this.

NoahVT - your brother is welcome to join us. We like Jeeps although we do give them a hard time :-)

If you're familiar with the class VI's around the area, you'll know more about the area than I do.

Hey Noah - sent you an IM to see if you are familiar with any of the classVI's that I sent. Let me know via IM (since we don't post trail info publicly).

My brother might be out, his XJ is acting up. Don't worry, I told him he should have got a Nissan.

His 3&4 cylinders weren't firing so we took his spark plugs out. Stock gap on his spark plugs are supposed to be .035. His were all over .065 and one was at alike .075! Instead of new plugs (since we don't have any handy) we re gapped them hahaha and put them back in, its running a lot better. I have a feeling he won't want to spend a day in the woods with it tomorrow. We shall see.

Suresh I sent you a PM about the route. Sliders are necessary IMO and at least some skids.

Lets party. :woohoo:

Ok Tony, we'll catch you next time.

For the folks who are signed up or are maybes, please let me or David (rcheliman) know, if you are not coming. I'll be messaging the signed up folks my number in case you need to reach someone in the morning.

NoahVT has for some real nice classVI's on his mind for tomorrow - it should be a blast.

See you guys in the morning!
