Once again, our Northern eXposure Run was a huge success! Thank you to all who joined us for the day! A big thank you to Tom and Ernie for heading up the groups at the two locations. Here are their reviews of the day:

————————————————————————————————

The 2012 NEXTerra Northern eXposure Run was held at Rausch Creek Off-Road Park in Tremont, PA on January 7th. The weather was the warmest it had ever been, with blue skies and unusually high temperatures for this time of year in PA.

After a brief raffle of gift certificates from a few of NEXTerra’s generous sponsors;
$25 from 4x4Parts
$50 from nissanparts.com
15% Off from DraglineOffRoad
$100 from PRG
Thank you Sponsors!

Kyle (punkrockdrummer), Bryan (Rook), Hoagie (after I begged), Matt (egon, taking us into “Cemetery”) and Tom (TomsRedX, after Hoagie went to help with a repair) lead almost 20 trucks into the Rausch Creek trail system Saturday morning.

The wheeling Gods were angry that day my friends and a short time into the rocks there was a failing Auto Transmission, a broken universal joint and a busted tie rod extension. Everyone got out of the trail by the end of the day.
The “disasters” were turned into what most would view to be true heroism, but to the Trail leaders and attendees of this event they were just lessons in basic trail etiquette.

These folks represent all that is good in this sport and is the reason this community of “Xterra Off-Roaders” is worth being a part of.

The time left to wheel was well used as attendees tested the limits of their nerves as well as their trucks.

Most of us ended up at O’Neils Bar/Restaurant to recount the day’s adventure and thank all for the camaraderie, friendship and help. It was great fun for me and I hope for all of the attendees as well. Let’s all do it again soon!

Tom & Bklyn.X

————————————————————————————————

Northern Exposure GG Run Summary

The day started out on a chilly note @ 26 degrees at the Crackerbarrel Restaurant, but everyone was early and eager to get out on the trails. We headed out for the trailhead to where we aired down and had our drivers meeting.

Soon after, we were out the trails, staying in one large group. The first trail was the northern loop to get everyone a feel for the trails, followed up by Fruit Loop, which is short, but fun just the same.

After that we were off to Mt. Laurel Loop and Pine Tree Hill climb. There were some downed trees that we cleared along the way. Everyone had a blast climbing Pine Tree Hill. With some spotting everyone made it through the harder exit of the trail.

Next was the ledge obsticial, which a few of us took on. The left side is moderate and the right side is harder. We cleared a falled tree and a stump from the top of the ledge. A Big Thanks to all my fellow lumber jacks !

We all headed back to the landing at the trailhead for lunch. By this time the temps had climbed up to 62 degrees. At the end of lunch we had our raffles:

$25.00 GC for 4×4 parts.com
15% GC for Draglineoffroad.com

$100.00 GC to PRG.com

Congrats to the winners

After Lunch we headed out to the Mass Pike and Diaper Hill. We lined up the rigs to take on the Hill. Everyone went down to watch, spot and take pics. After the Hill we returned to the landing, where some had to leave early, but others stayed and went out to hit two other trails – one stock friendly and the other more aggressive.

The harder trail run was cut short due to more downed trees in the trail.
The stock friendly trail was also cut short due to an ice flow completely covering the road on a steep hill.

So we decided to call it a day and head to the Cracker Barrel for some good eats and good conversation.

Thank You to all that came out for the run, as always it was a great day.
A big Thanks to all that spotted, helped with cleanup on the trails and all our
film crews

I can’t wait for our next event to see everyone out on the trails doing more with their X.

Ernie (Bass4Runner)

The 7th annual Back to School run was held on the weekend of September 16-18th, 2011 in Up State New York, consisting of three days of getting together, two nights of camping and one day of off-roading at one of the best tracts of private property available.

The event was attended by 50+ members and guests, with 30+ trucks consisting of 1st and 2nd generation Xterras, Jeeps, a full size Blazer and a heavily modified Tracker. Thanks to hurricane Irene, the property was more challenging than is normally the case, which proved that only ¼ inch of mud in one area lead to winching at least half of the trucks in the group. Although this might have been more than some drivers would have liked, every attendee had a great time and, once again, the property offered something to challenge drivers of any skill level, making for the perfect way to close out the season.

After a great day of wheeling, the attendees were treated to a meal that consisted of smoked ribs and pulled pork that had been slow roasted overnight, homemade side dishes and desserts provided by many of the members, meaning that all diets were blown for at least a few hours.

The main portion of the event concluded with the post dinner raffle, which provided the attendees the opportunity to win items supplied by our incredible sponsors. Donations ranged from gift certificates to a popular restaurant near Rausch Creek Off Road park, off-road gear, camping supplies, truck parts and gifts certificates that could be used to purchase items for off-road trucks, tow rigs or daily drivers. This breadth of support from our sponsors reflects the benefits that we strive for when requesting sponsorship and, thanks to their incredible generosity, we were able to provide our attendees with an incredible event and make this the best Back to School run yet. While we strive to make the event the best of the year, it’s our sponsors who make it even better.

Thank you to all who attended! We hope you had a great time, and we hope to see you again at our next event!

The weather was the absolute best it had been in years, with blue skies and low temperatures during the day and a cool, crisp feeling during the nights. The attendees lodged a the Twin Grove KOA campground in tents, cabins, or cottages. And, a few attendees found solace in some of the nearby hotels. The event included 3 days of wheeling, 3-4 nights camping and a huge BBQ and Raffle on the final night of the event. The event was finally concluded with a twilight after party hosted by NeXterra in the tent section of the Twin Grove KOA.
This year’s ECXC drew over 60 Xterras to the trails of Rausch Creek over the course of 3 day event. Driver’s from the east coast, mid west, and even Canada came to hit the trails push their Xterras to their limits. The attendees broke into small groups based on their skill level and the ability of their truck and took over the off-road from 9am till just after 5pm each day.

There was a fair share of breakage and damage at this year’s ECXC, including slashed tires, bent rims, burnt out alternators, body damage, bent tie rods, broken torsion bar adjustors, bent knuckles, shattered u-joints, torn brake lines, sheered steering racks, and many other problems. But, the damage could not deter the friendship and camaraderie that excels at this event and keeps everyone coming back year after year.

The BBQ & Raffle night, sponsored by GPAX, proved a success with delicious food and amazing prices, including a Smittybilt winch and a GoPro HD camera package. Many NeXterra attendees walked away with some great prizes and full bellies.

And, finally, the NeXterra after party concluded ECXC 2011 with a full bar, including some well mixed punch. The conversations of the weekend’s events and stories went well into the night as the moon rose and the stars shined over head.

It was an amazing year for the event drawing many repeat attendees in addition to many new drivers and passengers. I personally think it was one of the best ECXCs in years and I won’t forget it anytime soon. – Stephen Q. Breslin
